Zion National Park Guided Hikes

Zion National Park Guided Hikes – Zion is one of America’s favorite national parks! The name Zion alone immediately brings to mind many of the iconic popular hikes within the National Park System and is a large reason for the parks popularity.

I have personally hiked almost all of Zion’s trails and love each one for its own reasons From easy hikes to strenuous hikes, there are trails for biking, horseback riding, and even a trail to walk your pet. Even better, most hikes require you to take a park-operated bus on the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive

Observation Point Trail – From Weeping Rock via East Rim Trail, long-term closure due to a large boulder.

Toxic Cyanobacteria Bloom – The park has issued a warning about a toxic bloom in the Virgin River. Do not filter drinking water from any stream until further notice

Zion Shuttle – Currently, the shuttles are out of service from November 28 to December 22 and will resume on December 23 and run until January 1, 2023.

The Zion Narrows Hike is an absolute must for anyone visiting this park! This classic hike can be done in one of two ways

Zion National Park Guided Hikes

Most people take the shuttle bus from the park to the temple at the Sinavava Shuttle Bus Stand From here they walk a mile riverside and then enter the Virgin River

Day Zion National Park Itinerary

From here, most people usually go upstream for two to three miles before turning around and back to the famous Wall Street and Orderville Canyon area.

Wall Street is where the canyon is very narrow and the walls of the slot canyon are very tall. The sun doesn’t really see this section and you’re wading in the river at this point

A second option is to hire a Zion Narrows shuttle to Chamberlain Ranch and travel 16 miles down the North Fork of the Virgin River. This requires a wilderness permit issued by Zion National Park and most people spend two days spending the night inside the canyon.

Running the Narrows requires some preparation You need sturdy shoes and trekking poles There are outfitters outside the park who rent water shoes and hiking sticks

You will need to check with the park visitor center and check for flash flooding before heading out

The Riverside Walk is an easy walk on a one-mile paved path (two miles round trip). With the virgin river flowing by your side, it has a wonderful view that makes you feel very peaceful

The end of the paved trail also marks the beginning of my all-time favorite, Zion National Park’s Zion Narrows!

Guided Tour Of The Narrows In Zion National Park

The Zion National Park Angels Landing Hike is one of the most memorable hikes you can experience in Zion, both mentally and physically.

It starts out as a relaxing ride as you cross a bridge and head towards Refrigerator Canyon and Walter Wiggles. You feel that way for what seems like forever

Walter Wiggles is a switchback who climbs up to Scout Lookout. It forms a resting place before going to Angels Landing

Zion National Park Guided Hikes

It gets even more exciting as you chain yourself up and look down at the canyon walls to the valley below.

Know Before You Go: Zion National Park

I mean seriously you’ll walk through areas that are only several feet wide and cliff drop offs hundreds of feet down with only a chain holding on. I’m sure you’ll find my fingerprints on some chains from me holding them so hard

The view at the end is truly magical and makes the trek worthwhile as you find yourself in the heart of Zion!

The Emerald Pools are divided into three parts; Lower, Middle and Upper Emerald Pools I see books break it up into separate walks but really, you can easily do it in one walk

Take the park shuttle bus to the Zion Lodge stop and cross the river to the Lower Emerald Pool. Once you reach the lower emerald pool, head to the middle emerald pool then up to the upper emerald pool.

A Safer Angels Landing’: Developer Of Above Zion Project Opens Guided Trail Hike Near Kolob Reservoir

From here you go back to the Middle Emerald Pool and then have a choice of going back to Zion Lodge the way you came or you can take the Kayenta Trail to the Grotto and do a loop.

If you want to do a full loop, take the Grotto Trail back to Zion Lodge! This was truly one of my favorite hikes!

Subway is one of the most iconic National Park hikes! Its popularity has grown rapidly over the years as photos like the one above have started appearing on calendars, postcards and every social media channel.

It has become so popular that the National Park Service has had to limit the number of people to protect resources and the insane parking problem You must obtain a permit before entering

Incredible Ways To Explore Zion National Park ⋆ Brooke Beyond

The trail also brings the adventure factor as you can go canyoneering from top to bottom, some route finding, water crossings, and scrambling over rocks and boulders.

Because of the subway’s popularity, the National Park Service has created an online lottery for service reservations

You can complete an online Advance Lottery application which must be submitted three months prior to your planned trip and is limited to one request per month.

Park Ranger John Pro Tip: Don’t want to mess with getting permission to explore Subway Zion? Go between November-March as permits are not required during this time as there is less demand for permits

Zion Canyon Trail Descriptions

Trail Status – East Rim trailhead from Weeping Rocks is currently closed due to a large boulder

This is a great day trip in Zion, where you’ll visit the Narrows and Angel’s Landing

The trail begins to gain elevation quickly toward Echo Canyon As you continue your hike you will catch a glimpse of Echo Canyon from the trail

Zion National Park Guided Hikes

Remember you have no business exploring this canyon or any other canyon unless you have a permit and technical canyoning experience.

Visit Zion National Park On A Trip To The Us

As you leave Echo Canyon the East Mesa Trail cutoff is to the right where you can go to Cable Mountain and Dirttrap Mountain but stay left towards Observation Point.

The trail continues steeply before finally leveling off for the last mile You will be ready
