When we visited Walt Disney World in November, we were number six in Florida on Makayla’s list of 15 places every kid should go before they turn 15. Throughout the trip we used multiple modes of transportation: shuttle (from home to airport), plane (from Salt Lake City to Orlando), train (from Orlando Delta Terminal to baggage claim), car (rental car) Orlando car ), bus (from Downtown Disney to Hotel Florida), monorail (from Hotel Florida to Magic Kingdom).

Tips For Planning Your 2013 Walt Disney World Visit

We flew from Salt Lake City to Orlando and arrived in the late afternoon on Monday (11/11/2013) and after checking into the hotel we headed to Downtown Disney for dinner (at Planet Hollywood) and some Disney themed shopping.

On Tuesday (November 12), after breakfast at the hotel, we headed back to Downtown Disney to catch a bus to the Magic Kingdom. We ended up taking a bus to the Grand Florida Hotel where we could catch the monorail to the park. The weather was perfect: 81 degrees Fahrenheit and cloudy.

We started our day in Fantasyland. We love “It’s a Small World” and “Prince Charming’s Regal Carousel.” Makayla’s goal was to meet Disney characters, so most of our day was spent looking for photo opportunities. After riding “The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh”, we met Tigger and Winnie the Pooh. We rode teacups at “Crazy Tea Party” and then met the White Rabbit.

We wandered into Tomorrowland where Makayla found “Stitch’s Great Escape” a little scary. We enjoyed “Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor” and “Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin” and then met Buzz Lightyear. We return to fantasyland and meet Daisy, Minnie, Goofy and Donald Duck in “Pete’s Silly Sideshow”.

The Disney World Files: September 2013

We went to Frontierland to see “Country Bear Jamboree” and then to Adventureland to see “Pirates of the Caribbean”. (If we were standing next to a pirate skeleton in the dark, navigating the ruins of a ship in a storm, we’d probably enjoy “Pirates” better if the journey didn’t stop for about ten minutes.) We love “Jungle Cruise” and “Enchanted Tiki Room” and then end the day at “Aladdin’s Magic Carpet”.

On Wednesday (November 13), after breakfast at McDonald’s, drive to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The weather was very different: 69 degrees Fahrenheit and very windy.

We started the day with “Journey to the Stars”. (Makayla loved the ride so much she wanted to return.) We visited the “Muppet Vision 3D” and then watched the “Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacle”. We rode the “Great Movie Ride”, then took the “Studio Location Ride”, then enjoyed the “Lights, Cars, Action! Extreme Stunt Show”. We stopped at The Magic of Disney Animation to meet Mickey and Wreck-It Ralph Ralph.

We ended the day with Mickey’s water show “Fantasmic!” By the time the show started, the temperature had dropped. Our seat was just downwind of the water effect. Halfway through the show, we were cold and wet. So we call it a day and head back to the hotel.

Florida Theme Parks: A Guide: Miller, Alex: 9780764343339: Books

On Thursday (November 14), after breakfast at the hotel, we drove to Epcot. The weather was fine again: 76 degrees Fahrenheit and cloudy. As we entered the park, we admired “Spaceship Earth” (narrated by Judi Dench).

We visited “Nemo and Friends Ocean” and enjoyed the huge aquarium with lots of sea creatures big and small. We visited “Living with the Land” and learned about greenhouses, hydroponics and aquaculture. We met Figment on “Imagination Tour” and it was great to see “Captain EO”.

From Future World, we crossed over to World Showcase, where we enjoyed rides in Mexico and Norway, and movies in China, France and Canada. In The American Experience, we were serenaded by freelance singers under the rotunda before proceeding to the audio animatronics experience.

We traveled back to the futuristic world to end the day with “Alan’s Energy Adventure”. Before leaving Epcot, we found some interesting souvenirs to remind us of our adventures at Walt Disney World.

Best Resort To Stay In Disney World

On Friday (November 15), after breakfast at the hotel, we drove to Cocoa Beach on the Atlantic coast to enjoy the sand and surf. The weather was ideal: 79 degrees Fahrenheit and cloudy. (Lisa thinks the road to the coast is scarier than any ride at Walt Disney World.) On the beach, we paddle in the tide and collect shells. This week, we share another behind-the-scenes look at Disneyland. The creative team at Disney’s Yellow Shoes Creative Group gave readers of the Disneyland Blog their first look at creating a “very happy” ad campaign at the Magic Kingdom park.
