This is one of my favorite outdoor activities for kids! All players sit cross-legged in a large circle. Choose one player to be the Researcher, and two players to be the Guardian. The number one guard takes the observer away from the circle and makes sure his eyes are closed and their ears are plugged.
Another player from the circle is designated as “Him”. He will be the leader of the team from their seat in the circle. He will choose actions such as clapping, snapping, touching their shoulders, etc. for other players to follow. Guard number two stays close to the circle to find out who “It” is, then, when the first action begins, leads the Guard and Guard #1 back to the circle. Guard #2 whispers the identity of “Him” into Guard #1’s ear, then the two guards join the circle and begin working with the group.
The goal for the Research is to guess who it is. For him, the goal is to change the motion when the Researcher is not looking. The goal for all other players is to follow the leader (Him) without giving himself up.
