Outdoor Activities To Do In The Winter – A collection of our favorite kids’ winter activities for outdoor play – from snow fun and games to backyard winter science and STEAM ideas

I’ve shared quite a few winter projects and activities over the years, but while going through my posts last week I noticed a gaping hole in my collection – where were the winter outdoor game ideas?! I grew up in Ohio where the winters can be quite snowy and cold, and most of our free time was spent playing outside – regardless of the temperature. When winter hit, my sister and I would jump at the chance to get together for just about any outdoor fun, whether it was shoveling the driveway with Dad or trudging up the sledding hill at the end of the block.

Winter can be a wonderful time to remember the importance of silence. With all the leaves off the trees and many people staying indoors, winter seems calmer and quieter than any other season.
