Located on the Grand Canal in the main part of Venice, the Doge’s Palace is one of the best places to visit in Venice. The Palazzo Ducale or Doge’s Palace is the most important building in Venetian history. Doge was the head of state and religion in Venice for centuries. He was Pope, Regent, President or Prime Minister of Venice all at once.
Tucked away in the corner is the Doge’s Palace with Saint Mark (the patron saint of Venice) and the Winged Lion of Venice facing the water. The Venetian Gothic architecture inside and outside the Doge’s Palace is stunning and I recommend spending at least 90 minutes to see it all properly.
