Now, before you can draw the entire face, you must first learn to draw the features of each face separately. Only by taking one feature at a time can you learn anatomy well and understand what to look for and what to draw in your drawing.
Essential Tips For Drawing Self Pencil Portrait
The nose is the least complex feature and, as noted, closely resembles a sphere. The five shaded elements are easy to see. It is important to learn how to draw facial features in different poses.
The straight and profile views of this nose give you a lot of experience. Follow the steps to draw the nose in both views.
Use the grid method and mechanical pencil to create the line of the nose in direct view.
First, when you’re sure of your accuracy, carefully remove the grid lines with a putty eraser. Then, develop light and dark patterns with a pencil. Start by drawing a sphere to learn the vibrant shadows and curves of the face.

Second, add a reflection of light to the tip of the nose and the tip of the nose. Add a shadow edge to the tip of the nose so it looks rounded. Place shadows under the lower edge of the nose.
After adding the light and dark colors, blend them smoothly with a stump or tortillion. A very small part of the image should be left white. Many artists leave skin tones too light, but only the highlights should be paper white.
As in the sphere exercise, remember to blend from dark areas to lighter surfaces. It makes it real.

They should also be slightly shaded. Because the teeth are dimensional, if you whiten them, they will be flat. Shades darken as the teeth move into the mouth. The bottom teeth are always a little darker because they don’t protrude as much.
Use the grid method and mechanical pencil to outline the mouth and teeth. Each tooth must be perfect to create a good match.
Do not draw hard lines between each tooth. Draw the shape of the tooth line and the edges of the teeth for accuracy.

Leave the area open to the light (half on the pupil, half on the iris). Mix things up smooth with a tortillion. Use a wash fader to raise the capture light and increase the patterns in the iris.

Blend the skin areas of the drawing to create shapes and outlines. Shade the white of the eye to make it look like a ball.
Add lashes with very quick strokes that taper off at the ends. They grow in layers and clumps, so don’t force them to line up.
Note how the lower lashes grow from the lower edge of the lower lid. You can see how much the thickness of the lower eyelid adds to the appearance of the eyes.

The odds seem skewed by perspective. In this view, the profile of the nose covers one eye and only a small part of the face is visible on that side.
