Home is where the heart is, and for this Singaporean couple living in Hong Kong, their condominium at Marina One Residences serves as their sanctuary whenever they want to return for a visit to spend time with family. In keeping with its famous address, the residence is very familiar to begin with, but there is no touch of luxury in any of the rooms.
For the space to be renovated, the pair sought help from interior design firm Wee Studio. JJ Yip, the project’s founder, says: “The house has a well-equipped kitchen and bathroom, as well as luxury features such as built-in wardrobes. . The architect and interior designer, Kfir Galatia Azulay, chose to create a house like a restaurant that perfectly balances “public and private, light and shadow, clear and hidden.” Inspired by the poet Rupi Kaur’s quote, “I am not a hotel room. A small entrance door leads to a hallway with floor-to-ceiling, built-in cabinets that make up the home’s storage space. The function of the cabinet changes depending on the room across from it, whether it’s a bedroom or a bathroom – the toilet is in front of the bedroom and the laundry room goes through the the bathroom. The unit continues with the wall to create an open kitchen.
Built in the middle of the house is a new bathroom with two glass panels that allow views from both sides.
