And on that note, bring more than one hammock – I only made the mistake of bringing one, and there were five of us who wanted to use it!
Not only are hammocks a great place to relax, but I’ve seen teenagers really enjoy some privacy. Whether it’s reading a book or keeping in touch with friends through their phones, I guarantee they’ll happily spend a lot of time in one if available!

You can have one person create a scene for the rest of the group. Or you can change it to work as teams. Simply place the card on your forehead instead of looking at it for your teammate to act on, and you try to guess!

After catching a ton of fish, my brother-in-law actually had the seasonings, lemons and foil that needed to be prepared and cooked over the fire – see picture below!! It was delicious!
Fishing, kayaking, rock hunting, biking, mountain biking, hiking, etc… There are many campgrounds that have access to these types of activities. Encourage your teen to do some phone research on potential campgrounds ahead of time so they can participate in the decision.
And of course, I like this option because when I hear from them that they are “bored” at camp, I can remind them that they helped choose it! I never thought I would be like this, but teenagers will change you!
If your teen has hit the “my parents are super ignorant” stage, then bringing a friend can make them more excited for a weekend camping trip. Most teenagers are naturally super social, and the freedom to have their own tent (including setting them up!) will be fantastic for their confidence!
