The Chief Scout’s Award is the highest award in any division you will be a part of, so you always wear the highest award you win. Unwrap the old award, sew on your new award and wear it with pride!

At a recent meeting, I gave each of my scouts a patch to participate in a missile launch. When I said that this patch was not attached to the uniform, one of the scouts asked me “what are we going to do with it?” It’s a fair question.
This plaque was given to scouts to adventure on a sailing ship. This type of patch is not worn on the uniform.
Cubs Uniform And Badge Placement
It is a kind of meditation practice to collect the patch. Scouts get all kinds of patches. Visit a historical site, get a patch. Pop popcorn to collect money, get a patch. Complete one of the many Cub Scouting achievements, earn a patch. Visit scouts from other districts, get patches. After you’ve been with scouts for a while, you’ll start showing them off. They tend to fall into three groups.
Rewards. There are several patches offered to Cub Scouts that have their own place on the uniform. The most common of these is the rank award. When your scout completes the requirements for a Bobcat, Tiger, Wolf, Bear or Webelos, they will be awarded a patch. These shirts are permanently attached to the dress shirt’s left pocket. You can see the setup in the image to the left. Another award is the Cub Scout Outdoor Performance Award. It is worn as a permanent patch on the right shirt collar (note that it is the same as the pocket strap). Yet another constant reward is a religious knot.
