George has been counting like crazy lately! I don’t know when, but one day it clicked for him. Now to put it in context, here are some fun counting activities for preschoolers to practice their 1-2-3!

Finding what is in nature, counting leaves, counting petals, counting stones. Or look in their toy bin and sort the items and count, count, count!
Activities For 2 3 Year Olds — Oh Hey Let’s Play
When I see my kids interested in counting, they can’t seem to stop! George calculates everything. When we play board games, it counts how many cards, pieces, whatever are left. Board games are also great for beginners to count squares, it’s usually just a few squares at a time so it’s a great way to start.
Whatever it is… make counting fun and natural for kids. I never try to force a learning problem on them. But just expand on what interests them at the moment.
These are activities that really focus on children’s counting. I’ve also put together some great number activities that involve counting but also number recognition and one-to-one correspondence.

It’s hard to come up with things to keep a 3-year-old entertained and entertained while babysitting. Everything we’ve tried on your website so far has been loved by the three year old. Today was the perfect time to round up some preschool math ideas using toy cars.
First, we turned the wooden puzzle upside down and placed it on a plastic storage bin. My boys had fun launching cars. Then my foursome assigned each car its correct destination. I showed him the trophies, helped him identify “1st, 2nd, 3rd” and also showed him the words for each ordinal number. After we finished racing, I had him practice matching the car to the correct trophy by telling him where it finished.

Math Games To Excite Young Minds
I gave my foursome a set of four cars and asked how we could split them up evenly. He knew right away that we would both get two. When I made the pile bigger, he had to deal them out one by one to get the same groups. When he finished I asked, “So if we have 8 and we split it equally between two people, how many will each of us get?” This is a very basic introduction to division.
I divided the vehicles into groups and my Four and Six guessed my sorting rule. Here are just a few ways to sort toy cars:
I made a parking lot with ten spaces. I put a set of stars in each space. Then I stuck numbered stickers on the toy cars and had the two assign the vehicles to the corresponding parking spot. (By the way,
Is just a fancy way of saying “look at a group of items and see how many there are without counting each individual item.”) You did great until number 5. Since the groups were too large to count he could count exactly, Four recovered.

It’s such an easy activity to start while you’re on the floor playing with your kids. You create the pattern and let the child continue it, or let the child create the pattern and you name it. Here are just a few ideas:
It was too easy for my two, but it will be perfect for my toddler in six months. I’ve also seen bloggers create colorful garages out of boxes or cans for their kids to park their cars in.
My four collected a set of blue cars and my six a few red ones. They took turns throwing the dice and determining the sum. They then parked their cars at the number that matched their amount (if the space was free). If we played to the end, we would have to go one die if we wanted to cover the “1”! At the end of the game, blue cars dominated the parking lot, so my two won.
