I still cringe when I go to the pet store with my kids today. There are many different lives, many colors and many observations that can be made. What do fish eat? How do fish breathe in water? What kind of cat is this? These are all interesting questions that open up great conversations. You can visit different pet stores because each one has different pets. This is a great way to look at photo books that are popular right now but you’re not sure you want to buy. Going to the library is one of the most frequent indoor activities for my closest children.
For me, going to a bookstore or library makes my stomach churn a little. The moment you enter the store, you inhale the intoxicating sound of fresh book pages. Seven possibilities, possible journeys, transportation to different lives, countries and galaxies. I love bookstores. The children’s section of bookstores also often has a place for children to read books and they are always a child-friendly area.
Kids can go to Chuck E. Cheese, “Chuck E. Cheese, where a kid can be a kid!” Just buy your child some tokens and they have an hour of fun waiting for them. In Orange County, California we have a place called Pump It Up, which is an adjustable indoor playground. This is one of the indoor activities I have friends with and is also great for play dates!

Wait, what? Why a mall food court? Well, when I was a kid I loved going to the mall food court! For me there were often places to ride or play to socialize and be active. They also have fun drinks like my favorite pink lemonade. Some even had a Starbucks so I could have my favorite Starbucks drink for the kids.
